by Richard N. Marple, M.D. and Susan Marple, MSN, NP., Medical Value Added Services concierge medical practice was one of the first concierge practices to be started in Tulsa. For over 10 years our medical practice has provided personalized, immediately accessible medical care “the way it used to be” despite drastic changes that have occurred in traditional primary care at the hospital-owned clinics.

Our concierge patient care model allows us to continue to provide comprehensive state-of-the-art medical care and disease prevention without the time constraints and other restrictions typical of the corporate primary care practices.

In hospital clinics, where 10 to 15 minute visits are the norm, it is impossible to evaluate and treat multiple complex medical problems in a way that you expect and deserve. We offer our patients holistic, proactive care for early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and age-related cognitive disease using the latest diagnostic modalities including state-of the-art laboratory testing, genetic analysis and advanced diagnostic imaging.

We use these data to formulate a treatment plan to either cure the disease or prevent progression to symptomatic disease. The ultimate goal of this aggressive approach is to improve our patients’ quality of life and to increase longevity. We consider our patients as friends and as family, and likewise this is how they are treated. I sincerely believe that this philosophy of medical care is not available many places in Tulsa and definitely not at the hospital-owned clinics.

As a government-mandated health plan was rolled out in the last decade, the deficiencies of the new healthcare system became rapidly apparent, especially to those persons who currently had private insurance or Medicare.

The new government-mandated insurance with a plethora of new regulations and cost containment measures have been embraced by corporate and hospital-run clinics, and they have profited by replacing physicians with  physician extenders” who are now providing most of the routine care. In our practice you will always be seen by a physician and usually at the time you choose to be seen. In the Government’s new healthcare plan large healthcare corporations provide “cradle to grave “ care to a large population of patients for a set fee per patient (bundled payment).

In the Government’s new healthcare plan large healthcare corporations provide “cradle to grave “ care to a large population of patients for a set fee per patient (bundled payment). This type of primary care delivery system is called an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and will allow the government and health corporation administrators not physicians to decide what constitutes quality medical care and what testing and treatments will be allowed.
